I want to be a Hotshot

Singing his way to the top was Rwanda’s Frankie and boy can he bring the microphone alive. Frankie couldn’t hide his nerves in a suave black and white suit, but the crowd love him none the less.

The tunes continued with Kacey Moore, from Ghana. This poet and songwriter hopes his talents allow him to cross borders and hopefully break rules too.

Showing us what the nickname “SexyLeeLee” is all about, Nigeria’s Lilian entranced the audience with a sensual golden evening gown dancing and showing off all her talents

Butterphly, from Zimbabwe, displayed the power of words laced all over an edgy raga beat, while Mozambique’s Trezagah presented words in a different form when he took he took to the stage and waxed lyrical in his biker jacket.

Showing off her star power, Kenya’s Sabina treated the eager audience to a bag of chuckles with her bag of jokes. Her “motor bike man” skit was warmly received by the audience who put her in the lead with 78.3%.

But things may change so keep it tuned in for more talent.

The First Six Officially Enter The House

The first six housemates have entered the all new and plush Big Brother house. Fresh from their performances for Africa on-stage, they are now officially in the house for the next 63 days.

Frankie, Kacey Moore, Lillian, Butterphly, Trezagah and Sabina are the first to lay eyes, together with the entire continent, on the house. They were extremely excited and there was much whooping and yelps of joy. Some of them were even mimicking Biggie.

Whilst most went for the platter, Sabina went straight for the champagne. Clearly someone is up for a party.

60 Seconds In The Spotlight For Each Housemate

Big Brother Africa Season 9 of  has kicked off and it seems sticking with Biggie is bound to make the housemates famous!

Fame is the name of the game this season as Big Brother donned his director's hat for Africa's next Hotshot in Big Brother Hotshots. However, if the housemates wished to be famous, for Biggie, only talent would do.

What better than a talent show to showcase talent? Here's how it will play out; the housemates have 60 seconds in the spotlight with a performance the studio audience will rate form one to a hundred percent. Big Brother will then tally the percentage scores to reveal which one of the Hotshots they believe to be the most talented.

The housemates, excited, nervous and a bundle of emotions after weeks of awaiting the start of their journey into stardom, are invited to the take to the stage and make it theirs. In a bid to win the hearts and votes of the studio audience a talent show was arranged in which housemates have to sing, dance and perform for their lives.

With only a minute to impress the studio audience housemates have to come out hungry for success - clad in colourful costumes, sleek in sequence and pearls, the works!

So far, Sabina is top of the leaderboard with 78.3 percent, JJ 72.6 percent, Mam Bea 72.5 percent.

Diamond Platnumz and Emmy Gee bring fire on stage!

Nigerian rapper Emmy Gee’s hit single Rands and Nairas, written with the aim of celebrating African unity, has taken the music world by storm.
 
 The song features South African rappers AB Crazy and DJ Dimplez, and was recently remixed with the three performers, as well as Ice Prince, Anatii, Phyno and Cassper Nyovest. 
 
The highly anticipated launch of Big Brother Hotshots was opened with the popular song and the audience went crazy over the performance.

Diamond Platnumz is a Tanzanian artist whose birth name is Nasibu Abdul Juma and was born on 2nd October 1989. He is popularly known as Diamond’ and his type of music is described as ‘bongo flava”. In Tanzanian “bongo flava” refers to ‘pop music’. 

Diamond is not new on the Big Brother Africa stage- he performed at the Big Brother Africa 7 eviction show in May 2012. 

His fans love and rate him as one of the few influential artists of his time. The audience jumped and screamed as he performed on stage, clearly enjoying the music.

Things are off to a hot start on the Big Brother Africa stage and it promises to be an even hotter evening! Stay tuned and do not miss out on more fire and magic!

Fabulous Five!

Biggie is determined to make the housemates earn the title of Hotshots and the representatives are tearing up the stage with their talent. The next five housemates were just as exciting, entertaining Africa and giving us a taste of what’s to come.
 

Singer-songwriter JJ from Zimbabwe wooed the crowd with a song he wrote especially for the show; while Uganda’s Esther went with a chart-topper, singing her heart out for the audience who clapped along, but whose score did not reflect their enthusiasm.


Radio presenter Mr. 265 from Malawi, his voice booming across the excited audience, gave the audience a quick delivery of who to expect in the house. Like many of the rest, he’s looking to use Big Brother Africa as a platform for exposure.

Tayo from Nigeria strode onto stage with confidence delivering a piece he prepared for the show. The housemates are clearly eager to impress Biggie and let Africa know exactly who they are. Sushi chef Permithias displayed a different side to his skill-set as he crooned softly to the strumming of his guitar, creating a mellow vibe on stage before IK revved the excitement back up.

Big Brother Africa is Finally Here!

After weeks of waiting, Big Brother Africa is finally here! The live launch of season 9, themed Hotshots, has started! It's all about the glitz and glam, the bold and fabulous, and whatever else Big Brother may have up his sleeve.
