New Big Brother House & Launch Date Confirmed!

 

M-Net and Endemol SA are delighted to confirm that a new Big Brother house has been found and is located in Johannesburg, South Africa following the devastating fire that demolished the original house on September 2.

The search was concluded after exploring all possible options both locally and internationally, for a suitable venue to produce the 9th season of Africa's biggest reality show.

M-Net and Endemol SA are pleased to announce that Big Brother Hotshots will officially launch on Sunday, October 5 at 19:00 CAT.

As they countdown to the launch, fans across the continent can look forward to some pleasant surprises in true Biggie fashion.

The producers wish to thank fans far and wide for all the patience and continuous support over the past few days.

A Message From Big Brother

 

A message to fans of Big Brother Africa from Big Brother:

So many of you have expressed your disappointment in Big Brother for not being able to tell you the date when Big Brother Hotshots will launch.

As we had told you last week, we needed the following for the show to launch:

1. Venue, 2. Visas, Booking flights and accommodation for Housemates and Crew, 3. Setting up Equipment and transmitting satellite link feeds to our Johannesburg Studio, 4. Testing the Live Feeds.

All the above have formed part of the challenge but we can assure you, that the show will go on. When all the above has been finalised, we will proudly announce the date of the launch and location of the new house.

As you enjoy the beats on channel 198/197, Here is what you need to know about the Big Brother Hotshots fire and New Location.

1. What was the cause of the fire that destroyed the Big Brother house?

Investigations into the cause of the fire remain underway and once investigations are finalized we will release these findings.

2. Were there any fatalities or injuries during the fire?

There were no fatalities or injuries during the fire.

3. Will the house ever be used again for the show?

No decisions have been made on the future use of the house as yet. The final outcome of the investigations will determine whether the house will remain safe/durable to use for future editions of the Big Brother Africa show.

4. What is the new launch date for Big Brother Hotshots?

The final launch date is still being finalized however we expect to have the show on air within a month.

5. Where is the new location of the Big Brother house?

The new location of the house will remain undisclosed until further notice.

6. Where are the housemates?

The housemates are currently based in a hotel in Johannesburg.

7. Are the housemates aware of the postponement of the launch?

Yes, the housemates have all been notified that the launch of the show will be postponed.

8. What will happen to the housemate in the interim while they wait for the launch?

A plan is being put in place for the housemates in order for them to remain occupied and to ensure that they continue being excited about the upcoming season.

9. What will happen to housemates that are not willing to wait for the new launch date of the show?

We will manage this with the housemate should to situation arise.

10. Will Rwanda and Sierra Leone be considered, following the new developments?

This will be confirmed in due course; however Sierra Leone’s inclusion or exclusion will be based on the current travel restrictions.

11. Will the 9th season still run for 91 days?

More details will be released in the near future.

We can not move housemates, technical crew and equipment in a short time, reason why the show's launch date has been pushed to October. There won't be any launch this Sunday. Thank you for your appreciation, support and words of encouragement.

Following the devastating fire on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Big Brother house in Johannesburg, M-Net and Endemol SA have spent the last 48 hours searching both locally and internationally for a venue in which to produce Season 9 of the highly popular Big Brother Africa reality show.

After exploring all possible options, the team are delighted to announce that the show will go on as a venue has been found to get the show on air within the next month.

A multitude of factors have had to be considered including the complex technical requirements, logistics, technical crews and satellite link facilities which have all formed part of the challenge.

However, M-Net is delighted to assure all its Big Brother fans that their favourite reality show will launch soon and thanks fans from across the continent for their support during the last two days.

This Is It! Inside The New Big Brother Hotshots House

As you are all aware, the old Big Brother Africa house which is located at the Sasani Studios in Highlands North, Johannesburg, South Africa, was meant to be home to the 9th BBA season, Big Brother Hotshots, but it was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, September 7, 2014.

The burning of the house came as a huge blow to BBA fanatics who were waiting eagerly for the show to launch this Sunday, September 7.

An avid follower of the show, Tanya Musonza said it was fortunate that the BBA show had not started saying there would have been chaos if it burnt with housemates inside.

"It's sad that M-Net lost their house but thank God the housemates were not staying there. During the show, housemates are always locked up 24/7 and it was going to be difficult to evacuate them because of Biggie's doors which are always locked and the high durawalls," she said.

Over the years viewers of the show have questioned organisers why the show has only been held in South Africa and the response from then M-Net managing director, Biola Alabi was: "It's because  of the costs involved in the hosting of the show. The house is a studio inside another studio".

However, all hope is not lost as the organisers have unveiled a brand new house in which the production is going to be filmed.

The location of the new house is still a secret but contestants are expected to compete for $300,000 and to remain in the house for 91 days maximum.
